The Proud Peacock first established in Glen Waverley 2002 by June and her family, specialising in authentic Vietnamese cuisines. June started the business, as she saw the struggles in her parents’ life and wanted change to give them a better life. June’s mum came from a very poor family and having June’s grandma passed away at the age of 4, forced her mum to start work at a very early age. June watching her mum work hard every day and struggling to provide for her family of 7 kids is what drove June to build this restaurant for everyone to enjoy. The customers are everything to June and she believes is all the small things that she does for the customers to make them feel at home when eating at her restaurant. In 2012, Proud Peacock moved to Pinewood, where June had her first kid. This motivated June to work even harder and to set a good role model for her daughter, as her daughter means the whole world to her. This was one of the toughest period in her life, but her customer, her daughter and her family is what kept her going. On the 13 December 2017, the unthinkable happened. One of the chief left one of the pot cooking overnight and the whole restaurant was burnt down. June arriving to the ashes of her second home and fire brigade, that she served on a daily basis, broke her heart. Everything in there was what June worked so hard to build for her family. That day, June did not know what to do with her life. Sleeping that night, she hoped it was just a nightmare and that everything will be back to normal when she wakes up. Waking up the next morning, with tears still in her eyes, not knowing what to do and still feeling like her heart was just ripped out of her chest, she felt like all her hard work was for nothing… It was then, June started receiving a hundreds of messages from her customers and friends with the immense support and love, that reminded June why she started this all in the first place. The last 6 months, June worked hard finding anyway to rebuild Proud Peacock. June found Daniel and Grace, who have now joined to help rebuild Proud Peacock in Hamilton Place Mt Waverley. Every day, June continues to work hard to make sure Proud Peacock has the same homely feel when customers walk in and have the same fresh authentic Vietnamese food. June is now happy to announce the reopening of Proud Peacock at 28 Hamilton Place, Mt Waverley on the 5 June 2018 at 11:30 AM. Come and celebrate with her as she would love to put a smile on each one of your faces.
